Employee Spotlight: TrueNorth's Senior Clinical Management Specialist, Denise Kaestner, RN, CMPE

My medical career began in the mid-1980’s as a Certified Medical Assistant then over the course of my career, I advanced to a registered nurse to eventually become a certified medical practice executive.  So, yikes, 35 years!

From a young age, I was intrigued to learn more about the science of medicine in relation to human anatomy, physiology, microbiology and the like. Looking back, our school nurse provided health career classes that solidified my interest.

Over the course of my career, I’ve learned that with any patient or family interaction, it’s so important to offer expertise and deliver it with respect, professionalism and maturity. Charles Dickens sums the role of a nurse up quite nicely: “have a heart that never hardens, a temper that never tires, a touch that never hurts.”

Today, I leverage my experience as an RN and Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) as the Senior Claims Management Specialist for TrueNorth Companies. My CMPE designation gives credence to my experience with the billing and coding aspects of medical and pharmacy benefits and helps me serve as a medical liaison between the client and medical professionals, helping our clients conduct medical and pharmacy claim reviews, identify care options, ensure wellness program alignment and navigate savings and strategies regarding medical and pharmacy expenses.
