The TrueNorth Ag Summit was a valuable day for professionals across the agricultural industry. From insightful market updates to practical strategies for risk management, the event offered a comprehensive program designed to empower attendees with knowledge and foster meaningful connections.

The day opened with timely updates from industry leaders, including Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, who outlined the state today’s agricultural landscape, and TrueNorth experts Stu Haker and Dan Cook, who spoke on risks and liability trends affecting products and agribusinesses today.  

Keynote panels featured leaders from Nationwide Agribusiness, Agtegra, Iowa Institute for Cooperatives and Travelers, who discussed:

• Market and insurance trends affecting agribusiness operations 
• Proactive approaches to liability management 
• The benefits of umbrella coverage and managing severity 

Practical solutions for a challenging risk environment

Over lunch, conference attendees connected and conversed before the next session where they were introduced to original approaches to managing risk through innovative insurance solutions, presented by executive leadership from RT Specialty. 

Afternoon sessions resumed with a compelling panel discussion where attendees gained important perspectives on:  

• Mergers and acquisitions within the current agricultural sector, with expertise provided by specialists from Midwest Growth Partners and Mosher Consulting Group
• Legal risk and nuclear verdicts, featuring guidance from an experienced attorney 
• Holistic risk management strategies that go beyond compliance from an agribusiness leader with CHS
