Kevin Welu to Recieve Distinguished Service Award

Coe College will present TrueNorth Wealth Management’s Kevin Welu with the Distinguished Service Award on Oct. 26 during the All-Alumni Recognition Reception and Program the Stewart Memorial Library.

This award is based on nominations, and according to the college, the Distinguished Service Award “is a lifetime achievement honor for alumni or friends of the college who display exceptional stewardship to Coe through their service and/or financial contributions.” 

The Distinguished Service Award is given to alumni nominees who have graduated from Coe College a minimum of 25 years ago. The Coe Alumni Council evaluates the nominees based on weighted criteria including the distinction in their professional field, loyalty to the college and community engagement.

“This is a very humbling experience,” Welu said. “I’ve come to learn more about the award over the past couple of months.  Someone nominated me, whom I do not know. Anyone who knows me knows my pride and commitment to all three of these areas. Although I understand this is a lifetime of achievement award, I am only just beginning and will continue to give my all to Coe, community and career for many years to come.” 

The program will include David McInally, the president of Coe College, giving brief remarks about the college and its future and the pinning of the 1969 Golden Reunion Class. Other awards that will be presented include the Young Alum Award and the Alumni Award of Merit.
