Throwing a party? The best hosts understand event-related risks.

From weddings and graduations to holiday parties, hosting large events doesn’t come without its risks. It’s not uncommon for venues to require you to secure proper coverage based on the number of guests, whether you’re serving alcohol, etc.

Ask yourself these questions as part of your party-planning checklist:

  • Does the facility have appropriate coverage for risks (is their general liability coverage adequate)?
  • Are caterers and other event support (photographers, DJs, event planners, etc.) properly insured?
  • Serving alcohol? Some venues require you to obtain specific coverage for serving and providing alcohol.
  • Rain or shine? Based on the event, special event liability could also offer coverage in the event you had to cancel due to adverse weather conditions.
