TrueNorth Transportation 2024 Year at a Glance

From the freight recession’s end to new regulations, the transportation industry experienced major milestones throughout the year.  

TrueNorth’s transportation team continued to provide new, innovative solutions for clients, fostered collaboration within the industry, and contributed to the communities we work in.

Partnership with Haul

We announced our partnership with Haul, continuing to provide our clients with unique, comprehensive solutions that go beyond traditional insurance offerings. This collaboration enables us to provide FMCSA/DOT-managed compliance services to Contract Carriers, monitor compliance in real time, and deploy OCR technology for vehicle reporting and tracking.

Risk Summit

In May, we held our fifth Transportation Risk Summit in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. More than 200 attendees, including clients and colleagues, heard from more than 20 industry leaders, engaged in conversations about current challenges, and laid the groundwork for future partnerships and continued growth.

Touch-A-Truck

TrueNorth hosted a Touch-A-Truck learning event by S-E-A. This event provided the opportunity for clients, colleagues, and community members to learn about vehicle accident reconstruction in a hands-on environment with a real truck and staged crash site.

Outpost collaboration

Our collaboration with Outpost expanded our offerings to our clients further, providing a discount to their network of more than 10,000 secure truck parking spots that can be reserved through their technology-driven platform. 

IC Ecosystem enhancements

By innovating across our IC Ecosystem’s core pillars—Business Services, Business Insurance, and Health Insurance— TrueNorth empowers clients to improve driver support, streamline operations, and stay competitive in a rapidly changing industry.

Producer Retreat 

Producers gathered to celebrate wins, set goals for the remainder of the year, and enjoy some friendly competition on the course.  

Awards & accolades

TrueNorth was a nominee for IMTA’s Image award and a finalist for Samsara’s Safety Parter of the Year. Individuals from our organization were also recognized for their outstanding contributions to the industry, including Bert Mayo’s nomination for Safety Partner of the Year for IMTA and Duane Smith receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from NHDA. 

Thought leadership

Colleagues continued to offer their knowledge and contribute to the advancement of the industry outside of their work at TrueNorth. Just a few examples of this include Chris Gulker joining TSA’s The Road Home podcast, Dan Cook contributing to a Transport Topics article, and Scott Dickinson contributing to a Transport Topics article.  

We also produced 18 blogs, including 3 series, featuring colleague insight with the aim of equipping our clients with the knowledge and tools to stay ahead of the curve in the industry. 

Associations

TrueNorth colleagues remained actively involved in more than 30 associations by attending events, participating in leadership classes, and offering their knowledge by speaking at events. To name just a handful of examples, Adam Shanahan participated in IMTA’s Leadership Class; Manny Hoyt completed the Lead ATA program; Chris Gulker gave opening remarks at TCA’s IC committee; Bert Mayo and Tim O’Neil presented at ATA’s SSHR; Krystin Sitzmann served as a member of IMTA’s Truck Driving Championships Committee; and Peter Berg moderated a discussion at NHDA’s forum.

Philanthropy

The transportation division has continued to give back to organizations that align with our commitment to advancing the industry, the communities we work in, and our own clients' initiatives. As a Trucking Cares Foundation Member, we are committed to donating $100k over 10 years. Other contributions this year include being a sponsor of Forward Air’s golf tournament, which raises money for Hope for the Warriors, and participating in TSA’s Coalition for Independent Truckers Ambassador Program.

TNTruck Thought Podcast

The TN Truck Thought podcast released 11 new episodes, featuring industry leaders that offered their knowledge and experience. Topics covered included cyber security, compliance and regulations, and more.
