Denver International Airport Makes it Easier for Small Business Owners to do Business with the Airport

DENVER – May 15, 2025 – Denver International Airport (DEN) announced the launch of a new Airside Excess Auto Liability Program designed to help current and prospective airport tenants, contractors, service providers and suppliers more affordably obtain the $10 million limit of coverage required to drive unescorted airside. The AirsideDrive program provides eligible participants up to an 80% cost reduction in acquiring the necessary insurance to drive on DEN’s airfield.
DEN partnered with TrueNorth Companies to create a new, unique insurance program to provide a simpler, more streamlined path to add $9 million excess auto liability coverage to a primary $1 million policy coverage without the stress and heavy financial obligations traditionally associated with securing higher limits of insurance. Prior to this innovative policy change, the first of its kind in the aviation industry, small businesses were largely unable to afford this level of coverage, preventing them from being able to do business on DEN’s airfield.
“While $10 million auto liability for airside driving is a prudent limit for DEN to require of all our partners that need to drive on DEN’s airfield, we recognize it also created a barrier for small business to pursue many airport opportunities,” DEN CEO Phil Washington said. “This first of its kind program is aimed at helping solve that problem and is a testament of our Risk Management team’s dedication to innovation and making a real difference for our airport partners.”
