Charitable Giving: Cedar Rapids Area YMCA

Last June, four of the gentlemen shown above enrolled in the 16th annual Chubb Charity Challenge.  Over 300 teams competed to get to the finals and 45 made it - including TrueNorth! 

The team (shown above) consisted of Dr. Matt Aucutt a client and member of the medical staff at Mercy Hospital, and TrueNorth staff members, Matt Evans, Dan Driscoll, and Bob Kollsmith. At each hole, the team counted the two lowest scores (including the handicap) from the group. The team's qualifying score at Glen Oaks was -17 and the team's two-day total at Kohler Golf in Wisconsin was -34.

Believe it or not, this is the amount awarded to seventh place overall! Since the inception of Chubb's Charity Challenge, this event has raised and distributed over 14 million dollars for charities.

Fun fact: Since TrueNorth represents so many fine charities, Matt Evans and Bob Kollsmith competed in their own small competition to determine which charity their golf team would be playing for since the charity's name had to be submitted before the qualifying round of golf.  A thrilling three rounds later (of rock,paper, scissors, that is), the YMCA emerged the victor!
