Kyle Mertz Named TrueNorth Benefits EVP

(Cedar Rapids, Iowa, September 2020) -TrueNorth is proud to announce that Benefits Principal and Practice Leader, Kyle Mertz, will assume to the role of Executive Vice President of the Benefits division, effective September 1, 2020. 

"Our Benefits team has been on an exciting journey over the last 20 months," said Jason Smith, TrueNorth President & CEO. "We have added new talent, developed new technology and created innvoative solutions. Today, I'm excited to take another step forward in our journey by welcoming Kyle Mertz as Executive Vice President of TrueNorth's Benefits division."

"This is an exciting chapter in our journey as a firm, as Kyle will be our first Exective Vice Pesident of a division that is not based in our headquarters, rather leading from our office in Des Moines," said Smith. "Kyle has a passion for the benefits industry, value creation, teamwork and supporting our communities. I am proud to lead beside him and support his leadership journey."

As Executive Vice President of TrueNorth's Benefits division, Mertz will oversee the strategic direction of the division, including business development, innovation, and leadership and colleague advancement, all pointing towards maximizing our benefits and workforce solutions. Mertz has been in the insurance industry since 2006. He joined TrueNorth in 2012 with the merger of Frank Berlin & Associates. 

"I am humbled and energized to join the executive leadership team. I'm proud of the progress we've made as a division and am committed to encouraging and furthering what we've established for our clients and colleagues," Mertz commented. 

Mertz is actively involved in the Greater Des Moines community, where he currently serves on the Altoona City Council and the Executive Committee of the Metropolitan Planning Organization. Mertz also sits on the Board of Directors for YSS and Sotheast Polk Education Foundation.
