(Cedar Rapids, Iowa, August 2024) - TrueNorth Companies, L.C. a closely held, privately held risk management and insurance brokerage firm headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa has recently been honored with awards from four organizations: the Corridor Business Journal, Grateful Giving, Energage and Corridor Corporate Games, spanning the organization's regional, state and national footprints.

Proudly, the following recognitions honor and affirm TrueNorth’s aspiration to positively impact millions of lives as a leader in our industry, as an employer of choice and as a community steward.

Recognitions include:

Business & Industry: TrueNorth’s CEO, Jason Smith, has been named the region’s “Best Business Leader,” as voted by the readers of the Corridor Business Journal. This is the second time Smith has won the award and the fourth time TrueNorth’s leaders have been recognized in this category overall. TrueNorth was also proudly voted as 1st Runner-up for “Best Business Insurance” in the region.

Community Stewardship: In its 2024 state-wide report, TrueNorth was named by Grateful Giving as one of Iowa’s top philanthropic employers in three of its five recognition categories: Financial Giving, Number of Nonprofits Supported and Volunteer Hours. “We believe that businesses have a fundamental responsibility to give back to their communities and to our world,” said Matt Ostanik, Grateful Giving Founder and CEO. “This report is intended to honor companies who accept that responsibility and who are true leaders at giving back.”

Employer of Choice: TrueNorth was recognized again as a Top Workplace in the Financial Services Industry by Energage, an organization dedicated to transforming the world of work with workforce insights, resources and engagement tools. These awards are based solely on employee feedback, identifying TrueNorth as an employer of choice for those working or seeking employment in the financial services industry. Top Workplaces badges are known as the gold standard of workplace excellence, celebrating organizations with people-first workplace cultures nationally, statewide and by industry-sector. TrueNorth has achieved Top Workplaces USA and Top Workplaces in Iowa recognitions since 2021, along with National Culture Excellence Awards in the areas of Purpose & Values; Innovation; Work-life Flexibility; and Leadership.

Vibrant Culture: TrueNorth was recently named Corridor Corporate Games’ Division II Champions for the second consecutive year. Throughout the regional tournament, more than 100 TrueNorth colleagues competed against similarly sized area businesses to medal in 14 team events ranging from trivia to kickball. The purpose of the annual competition is to encourage teamwork, company pride and corporate wellness.

“It’s an honor for TrueNorth to receive these awards, all of which shine light on the contributions of our exceptional, collaborative and resourceful colleagues,” said Jason Smith, CEO of TrueNorth. “This series of accolades recognizes our intentional efforts and dedication to being a premier career destination for our colleagues, a leader in the communities we serve, and a risk management and insurance partner for our clients.
