Communication & Workforce Engagement

At TrueNorth, we believe that effective communication is key to driving positive outcomes in safety, employee education and driver retention. Our curated communication strategies leverage data to identify gaps within your organization, allowing us to tailor solutions that engage your workforce and address critical needs.

In this blog, we will explore a few of the innovative solutions we offer.

Perception Surveys

Our perception surveys gather valuable data directly from your workforce, including drivers and terminal managers. By hearing from people on the front lines, we can identify pain points and provide actionable recommendations on how to improve these areas and increase your employee retention and engagement.

For example, in a recent project we deployed a survey for one of our clients to both drivers and terminal managers. The feedback revealed positive areas, with a very high percentage of both drivers and managers believing the company cares more about their safety and well-being than the delivery of the load. The feedback also enabled us to identify areas of improvement, such as the working relationship between terminal managers and drivers who feel there could be room for improvement. With increased transparency between the two, this working relationship will continue to strengthen. The driver's experience is another area identified that could improve, with suggested areas of improvement being updates to GPS systems and driver training platforms.

EduMe

We utilize the EduMe platform to create customized training modules for drivers. It is user-friendly and can be accessed from a desktop or mobile device, fitting seamlessly into a driver’s busy schedule.

Every month, we provide training to final-mile drivers. Zack Hawkins, Account Executive at TrueNorth, explains, “With these teams running thin, having the ability to have content send directly to their phone to review topics such as Reversing a Dryer Door or Customer Service Best Practices allows them to learn and develop within their practice.” We’ve achieved a 60% completion rate for these non-mandatory trainings, supporting our belief that drivers are interested in staying up to date on best practices when the message is delivered in the right way.

To ensure drivers don’t miss out on these learning opportunities, we also support the deployment of notifications via email and text, allowing them to choose how they prefer to access their training.

Safety Posters

Safety posters are another effective communication strategy we use to reinforce best practices and safety tips. Displayed prominently in terminals, these posters serve as a quick reminder for drivers, typically just before they hit the road, helping to keep safety top of mind.

We offer a variety of monthly topics for posters, and if there is a specific safety concern within an organization identified through a Risk Council, explained in the last blog here, we can create tailored posters to address that issue directly.

Impact

By meeting drivers where they are with our creative communications solutions, you can enhance workforce engagement, improve safety, and demonstrate your commitment to their success. Ultimately, these efforts lead to higher employee retention rates, fostering a more stable and satisfied workplace.
