2016: A Year of Giving

“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as I live, it is my privilege — my privilege to do for it whatever I can.” – George Bernard Shaw
TrueNorth has been recognized across our region for charitable giving. We believe that we survive and thrive personally and professionally when we help to build strong communities. With that in mind, our offices support nonprofits across the nation through donations, activities, sponsorships and fundraising efforts. From sponsoring little league and kickball teams to getting more involved in area nonprofits like Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we value and encourage community involvement as a company and on an individual level.
At TrueNorth, we encourage participation in non-profit boards. Our staff volunteers their time for day-long (or more) projects and our corporate donations department, Casual for a Cause makes it their goal to raise money to help great groups in need of financial aid. In the past year, more than 500 hours of volunteer time was logged by employees of TrueNorth. As a corporate entity, we gave to more than 55 local organizations. That’s a testament to how much our staff, executives, and the whole company believes in making our home a better place for everyone!

A listing of organizations we've helped in 2016:
Willis Dady Emergency Shelter (WDES) has two primary objectives: to prevent homelessness for those at risk and to re-house those who currently find themselves homeless. | Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids and East Central Iowa provides mentors to at-risk students. | The Pacesetter Youth Camp is affiliated with United Way of East Central Iowa and is comprised of a handful of middle-schoolers ages 10 - 14. | The March of Dimes spends $0.76 of every dollar you raise in March for Babies to support research and programs that help babies begin healthy lives. |
Founded in 1901, the Humane Society helps place thousands of animals into new adoptive homes and returns hundreds of lost pets to their owners every year. | CAV's mission is very simple: to offer veterans and their families a place to create a variety of art and a healing work space, while also providing various instruction. | The Gigi's Playhouse literacy program teaches thousands of kids with Down syndrome to read each year and offers children "a place to belong." | Clothe-A-Child (CAC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization started by the Marion Masonic Lodge No.6, to provide new clothing to area kids in need. |
Established in 2007, the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy offers quality after school arts programming for K-12 grade youth in Eastern Iowa schools and human service organizations. | United Way and TrueNorth are a winning combination. United Way is engaged in nearly 1,800 communities across over 40 countries. United Way is a conduit for big ideas and actions through organizing volunteers, allocating funds, and funding efforts that go on to benefit organizations. | Families Helping Families is a grassroots organization with humble beginnings. The non-profit was founded in 2005 with $100 and a vision. | Back in April, TrueNorth partnered with Cedar Rapids-area Hy-Vee grocery stores and HACAP to sponsor the Great American Milk Drive. |
